Even as a small child, the wonders of the outdoors and her environment captured the imagination of Joane McIntyre, the artist behind McBead. Growing up all over the United States - the tidal marshes of Eastern Maryland, Mercer Island in the Pacific Northwest, the plains of Texas, Lake Erie in the Midwest, and the banks of the Boardman River, in Northern Michigan - Joane's sense of purpose and repurpose comes alive in her collections.

From bits of glass and plastic culled from the back roads of Michigan, stones, shells, glass, metal, rubber, wool, and of course beads, gathered from here and abroad, Joane carefully shapes and brings to life her unique, one-of-a-kind treasures.
